Meeting the deadlines with well-planned logistics

The size of the biggest construction site in Europe can only be seen from the air.

Built in approximately four years, RWE Power AG’s Neurath BoA project is the world’s largest brown coal power station. With around 10,000 m² of formwork, NOE-Schaltechnik has contributed a significant share of the formwork technology and materials.

With the 10,000 m² formwork for the machinery halls, ancillary buildings and the desalination plant, NOE-Schaltechnik has provided the bulk of the material for the site in the Rhine valley brown coal fields, as well as technical support and works planning.

For structural engineering reasons the deck slabs and downstand beams in the ancillary buildings had to be cast at the same time, therefore Strabag decided to use NOEalu L manual formwork for all the 3,780 m² of wall formwork.

The heavy duty frame formwork NOEtop was also used in the ancillary buildings. 12 metre high walls, some with special formwork and columns of 2.0 x 2.40 m in cross-section were concreted in one pour with NOEtop

The side formwork to the downstand beams in the machinery halls and the desalination plant was constructed with approx. 1,200 m² of heavy duty wall NOEtop panels.
